About this one

A traditional Chinese solid ink stick in the Hui ink style, produced by the Shanghai Ink Factory. One face carries the auspicious inscription "Tian Bao Jiu Ru" in gold characters; the other side carries a detailed landscape design. This kind of ink is meant to be ground with water on an ink stone to make liquid ink for brush calligraphy and painting — though this one has never been ground. It's still wrapped and unused, sitting in its original fabric-covered box with inner tray; the box shows minor edge wear from storage, and the stick itself has no cracks or damage.
